Lets support the small guys…

July 8, 2021

Whether its small businesses or small brands

We are so proud to have represented over the last 8 years so many amazing brands at Island Collective, some large and some small, but this weekend is all about celebrating our small guys who we love having in the shop and highlighting their big bright futures, which we are so excited to be apart of.

We have selected some these to share with you and their stories and hope it encourages you to support small and shop local as much as you can.

Two of a kind design.

Susan Craig and Jacquie Jones are the two creative mum’s behind this small business based in Brisbane. They begun in 2016 which has since evolved and cultivated a range of unique, artisan homewares which are handmade with love. They draw their inspiration from travel, decor, textures, patterns and the colours of coastlines and landscapes. We love their combination of art practises- paint, photography, print and textiles within the work to create
beautiful and original wall art and decorative pieces. “We pride ourselves on the personal service, connection and relationship we build with customers and enjoy every piece we make.” Recently the girls were featured in Three Birds Renovation latest project, house 13- which has skyrocketed their business to new levels.

The SunLounge

Born from salty origins and a daydream come true for Gold Coast local seafolks, Heidi & Jim, who have a love of finding unique seaside vintage homewares & furniture and they also create a range of ‘coastal holidays forever’ plyprint imagery. Travels to Hawaii, coastal roadtrips and their love of palm trees is mostly the inspiration!
The SunLounge offer of plyprints is uniquely created, printed & handcrafted on the Gold Coast. Keeping it local & close by their favourite beaches is what makes the range of prints pretty special. All ply prints are printed on 9mm Marine grade plywood. Plyprints are laser printed, machine cut to size with each individual print completed with a hand sanded finish. We love that all of their works are created and finished in their coastal home making each plyprint a totally unique one.

Rose St Supply

We think Rose St Supply rocks…
The inspiration for their canvas flags is driven by art, music and subculture and why not wear your love on the wall. They describe their work “for all the punks, poets, artists, rockers, lovers, dreamers, gypsies and misfits” The flags are simple in design (which we love) but big on presence, making them popular to adults and kids love them in their
rooms as well.
Recently the girls at Three Birds Renovation, used The Surf flag in their latest reno House 13- which gave Rose St Supply some well deserved…
Designed in Torquay, Australia- One of Australia’s mecca’s for surfing.
